Core composition: The inner part of Neptune is contained of a rocky core with many pieces of ice, topped with a deep layer of liquid hydrogen.
Surface Composition: The half of Neptune is covered with rock and ice. The upper level of Neptune is not rocky or icy at all, it is a big ocean. The ocean is made out of hydrogen, helium, and water, but also ammonia and methane. Neptune has gigantic cirrus clouds, and lots of storms.
Atmosphere
Major Gases: helium, hydrogen
Minor Gases: methane
The atmosphere of Neptune is gassy. Since it is part of the gas planets the atmosphere consists of lots of gases. Some of the gases are helium, hydrogen, and methane. Helium and hydrogen are major gases, which means that they are found in a big percentage. Methane is a minor gas, which means that the gas is found in small percentages.
Here are some pictures of the cellular structure (in order) of ammonia, helium, hydrogen, and methane. There is also a picture of water. Look closely because Neptune has all of these!
